The Muscari Armeniacum, commonly known as grape hyacinth, are cheerful early flowers and make a welcome addition to the spring garden.
Latin name: Muscari Armeniacum.
RHS Award of Garden Merit: Yes.
Soil type: Prefers well drained soil.
Feeding instructions: Multi-purpose compost and general purpose fertiliser.
Planting instructions: Plant for sun.
Flowering period: Feb to Apr.
Colour of flower: Blue.
Eventual height: Up to 20cm tall.
Perennial: After flowering leave bulbs in the ground to flower each following year.
Hardiness: Can survive temperatures down to -15c.
Hazardous information: Do not eat ornamental bulbs. Bulbs grown from cultivated stock.
Features: A perfect partner with dwarf daffodils. Plant in informal drifts for a stylish effect.
