Ananas (Pineapple) plant

Pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical plant that grows to heights and widths of up to 5 feet. The impressive, sword-like leaves reach lengths of 72 inches. The fruit grows on stout stems, but only when the plant is at least two years old. Thereafter, with proper care, the plants continue to produce fruit for many years. Pineapple plants prefer full sunlight and well-drained, acidic soil with a pH between 4.5 and 6.5. Pineapples are suitable for growing in the warm climates.
