Acanthocereus pentagonus monstrose, native to South America, is an epiphytic cactus (plant dwelling in trees or rock crevices; unlike the traditional terrestrial plant requiring roots anchored in the ground) with slender, 4-angled stems. Short spines along margins of stems. This is a monstrose form, with stems that are twisting and often not exactly symmetrical. Nocturnal flowering with large white flowers. Porous soil with additional humus content. Bright, filtered light with ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Prefers more water and humidity than typical desert cacti. Prefers warmer night-time temperatures, especially during winter months.Protect from frost.
